Park Hyatt does have a nice vibe (I really like it here). However, I felt the Bristol was one of the more Parisian options. The bar is a bit trendy, but other than that, for me it was just as traditional as The Ritz. It is touted as family friendly, but I'd say for a younger demographic than a 22yo/16yo. The Crillon is very nice. Maybe the Mandarin Oriental is an option for you in Paris. I wouldn't be too 'intimidated' but the idea 'foo foo' at Paris hotels - I don't really get that vibe from any of them. Certainly not like The Ritz in London for example. Decor/atmosphere slightly changes, but IMO I find the mix of people generally quite similar across all the options.
Get a booking at Balagan and make sure you order the signature desert - the kids will love it (I had my friend's birthday there in September).
Also - when you say summer, when do you mean? In Paris, Tue 23 June to Sun 28 Jun will be the mens shows, Sun 5 Jul to Thu 9 Jul will be the couture shows. The vibe in ALL luxury hotels will be very different to normal at these times, especially the couture dates. Could be exciting for the kids? (I visit during the womens/couture shows each season)
