Involuntary rebooking

Hi

I'm in need of some advice.
I was booked NCL - CDG - TNR in May which has now been cancelled.
They've offered a NCL - CDG - NBO - TNR has a substitute.

My original flight was more expensive (at the time when booked and now) than the substitute but AF are being coy about the fare difference refund I ask and say only customer service will look at it once I've accepted the new flights.

What are my rights in regard to this? They can't give me a worse flight and keep all the extra cash surely?
I doubt any further compensation for the extra flight/ delayed arrival will come into this?

I'm FB Gold if that matters or helps much.

Cheers

Chris
