There is no "rolling" aspect.

You are given a fixed 12-month period in which to go up in status. The "deadline" is shown in your profile.

You can't have a "rolling" year when you are given a fixed deadline. Your deadline only changes - as I've previously stated - when you go up in status, but even here, you are given a new, fixed 12 month period. It's not rolling.

To further emphasise that your qualification period is not "rolling", they will always deduct Tier Miles from your account upon reaching your anniversary date. (If you go up in status, they immediately take those Tier Miles, but they also re-start your timer, changing your anniversary date).

If, before you reach the natural end of your "Silver" year, you reach Gold, you are instantly upgraded. Your "old" silver date is no longer applicable to you; you have gone up in status, and thereby changed your anniversary date.

If, as a silver, you reach Gold, your "old" date is no longer relevant. You instantly start a new year, as Gold, starting the date of the flight that brought you over the Gold threshold.

It doesn't take that long. And even if your next "Silver" year has started before they process your flights and realise that you should have Gold, your account will be processed within days to have Gold backdated to this earlier date, and you have a new, earlier, renewal date/anniversary/membership year.

If you take only one thing from this thread, let it be this: your anniversary date/year will be changed based on the date of the flight that pushed you over the next higher level. Whether this happens really early in your membership year, or so late in the year that your account first "rolls over" to another unchanged year at an unchanged status, makes no difference. The system will eventually process the status change correctly, and give you the new higher status from the relevant earlier date..
