I had the opportunity to set a record for the highest price ever paid for a one-day rental at National this past week.

I had been renting a car for the weekend in Missouri and got a <$30/day rate. Due to the Florida airports being closed with Frances, I opted to drive back. To extend the rental one day, National wanted an additional $750, before taxes. (after-tax total of $900? $1000?)

I respectfully declined and got a premium car from Budget instead for $80/day.

Usually I use National for one-way rentals because of their reasonable prices, but not this time!
