Your membership year is quite simple.
The only thing that will cause your year to change is
if you go up in status.
For as long as you continue to maintain whatever status you have, your year will not change.
If you drop down in status at any time, this will not cause your year to change.
However, as soon as you exceed the higher threshold for a new, higher, status during your current year, that membership year terminates early, and a new year commences with this higher status, effective from the date you took the flight that pushed you up in status. Your "year" remains aligned to this date
until the next time you go up in status.
Once you reach Gold, you can't go up in Status any further, and therefore you cannot change your membership year/anniversary date again until
- you have dropped in status (to either Silver, or all the way to Blue) AND;
- you then subsequently go up in status again.
