I agree that the Vietnam hotel has a good value. Now just have to be able to find cheap tickets to fly a family of 4 over there during vacation time.
As other have said a Cat 5 - 7 night certificate is good for any Cat 5 hotel. peak points pricing doesn't matter just that the hotel is a category 5.
105k points is the old 'cash out value' or refund value of the certificate. If you couldn't use the hotel portion of the certificate a Cat 4 refunded 45k points, a Cat 5 refunded 105k points. This changed last summer when Marriott, without notification to certificate holders, dropped the refund value to 5k point regardless of certificate category. So the 105k is meaningless now.
Also the difference between this the two categories was how much you use to be able to upgrade from a Cat 4 to a Cat 5.
