So, if he didn't recline at all, which he probably didn't, he only got a bigger, comfier and quieter seat. Would he have been able to sleep like that in Y? Probably not 13 hours straight, but possibly 7-10 hours with some interruptions, and lower quality sleep...Was it worth it? It depends on his finances, his ability to sleep in Y, and what he did upon arrival. At least he got some partial value out of it, but maybe not the full value.
