I flew SFO-SIN on SQ without eating a meal; I may have grabbed an inflight snack, although I don't recall. I was hungry when I got to Singapore, but I survived.
Obviously I was exaggerating. But this is the only flight I ever take (and I fly about 200k BIS miles per year, almost all in Y longhaul) that I ever need to bring extra food and water for. They give you the same amount of food on a 17.5 hour flight as what some other airlines provide for a 7-8 hour flight.
Even the water services can be stingy and there's sometimes no water left to self serve in the mid cabin galley. Never had this issue on AA, BA, CX, AC, LH.
