2.5 hour can be a bit tricky sometimes if the immigration gives you trouble, also if you do transit then you should be okay, but barely.
I had one night in HEL and did not get in time to cancel. On the Chinese side it is okay, I just had to change a flight as I am based in PVG. My big problems are: I am not getting money back, and also my return is just gone, which I already booked everything around, including a later flight to YVR from FRA.
