Is renewing platinum (or any tier level) a bad deal?

This has probably been talked previously but since I didn’t find a thread, I’m gonna ask here: My first actual plat season starts next month but I’m already contemplating whether I should renew plat or not. My “normal” flying pattern wouldn’t take me even close to plat so if I wanted to renew, I would need to mileage run. What bothers me with renewal is that one will miss the benefits from reaching a certain level when renewing. If I renew, I will get 3 LH vouchers and one gold card. But if I drop to gold, I will get one LH voucher from gold, 3 from reaching plat (+1 gold card) and 3 from starting new season as plat (+1 gold card). So according to my math, renewing plat would “cost” me 4 LH vouchers + 1 gold card. That’s a quite a lot of value left at the table right? The only downside is that as a gold one gets only +15% tier points instead of plat +25 %.

So how do you guys justify renewing to yourself, or have I understood something wrong here? Imo the gap is even bigger when we talk about renewing lumo vs. dropping to plat, and there is not even this +15% issue.
