it can be frustrating. But look at it logically. They have algorithms to set prices to extract maximum revenue. Airlines generally extract a premium for non-stop. Not accusing you of anything, your argument is
logical but it’s also logical that they’d like to protect their revenue integrity and not put you right on a non-stop. Even another similar routing - either someone checks it over to see if it’s sensible (which costs money) or set a line of policy for everyone to easily follow. The line has to be set somewhere and they’ve set it using travel advisories and MCTs and such and unfortunately you’re on the cusp but not enough to trigger.
