I just want to mention, that there are so many rumours in Shanghai about those kind of things, because lack of official statements. e.g. the closure of the exhibition center at Longyang Rd. because of the new national exhibition center in Hongqiao - but, it's still there.

ETA: I predict it will stay, and the area around it will develop further. This won't be leaving much room for other transport options from Pudong area (Lujiazui, etc.) to Pudong airport. The local government will make sure, that Pudong are will keep it's fast connection to the airport.
FYI, already this changing trains on Line 2 at Guanglan Rd. is ridiculous - first couple of stations thereafter in rush hour is like sardines in a tin (yes, I tried it, but just when I had some time before picking up someone, and I swore to myself, I will never ever do this with luggage) - then can also transfer into Maglev at Longyang Rd.
May be closure of the Maglev will happen, when there is no more need for that interchange on Line 2. But this has been now like this for ages.
