The recent climbdown over pilot simulator training will be a major problem for getting the MAX back in the air. Even if it is certified, my understanding is that MAX simulators are pretty thin on the ground currently.
I wonder how accurate the simulators are? Boeing went to great lengths to disguise and avoid mention of the MCAS in documentation, would the simulator be accurately programmed to model it's influence? Was the full data on how MCAS operates released to the simulator makers? It was hidden from the FAA and the airlines who bought the planes, makes sense that at least the full extent of MCAS would be hidden from the sim makers too.
