ETA: I predict that it will be scrapped without a HSR replacement because extending the route to more useful places than Longyang Road is not easy. The slightly good news is that new subway line is going to operate at 100 mph without many station stops between PVG and SHA. The bad part of this that it passes well south of places we care about.
I would doubt this due to the Shanghai Exhibition Centre close to Longyang Rd. terminus. It would have been smarter to put the town station directly at the Exhibition Centre but even now it works quite well.
Also, who knows what the Longyang Rd area will become in one of the largest and wealthiest cities of the World? Curious that no real estate company has so far not built a luxury apartment/hotel/office building combo on that site.
