I've done a few BA1s. I usually arrive just after 8 but that's mainly due to train times from Brighton than any personal prference for an early arrival.

Depends if you want breakfast in Pilots Restaurent or not as well.

Queues don;t seem particularly bad to me - never even seen them that long after the BP check gates and they do move quick.
