Yes, I meant before scheduled departure. I've only ever experienced airlines starting boarding at a strict 30 minute (or max 40 minutes for long haul) before departure. Which made me (and other passengers) confused. Obviously the irritated remarks of the gate agent towards passengers arriving 30 minute before departure didn't improve the situation.
