Anyone else getting charged for award stays at Holiday Inn?
This summer I stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suits in Broomfield Colorado and was charged $30 a night for a reward night (full reward night, not point and cash). Front desk assured me this was a new policy. After contacting IHG Customer Service was able to get the fee refunded. Made the mistake of staying at the same hotel last week, and this time was charged $38.52 for a one night award stay. Spoke with the GM there and was assured it was a "training mistake" and never should have been charged, and my credit card was charged instead of billing the stay to IHG. She said she would reverse it immediately.
She reversed $11.52, as opposed to the $38.52. The $50 incidental charge hold has not been removed, which she also said had been removed.
So not sure what exactly is going on, but the hotel is owned by Premiere Hospitality of New Mexico which owns a few Holiday Inn franchises.
Anyone else have any issues with other Holiday Inn's charging your credit card for stays that they acknowledge are full reward stays? Is it an honest mistake, or are they just hoping a small charge won't be noticed in an effort to boost the bottom line of the hotel?
