I was pleasantly surprised the first time I was on this flight - sure, it's not lie flat or a suite, but for a 4-hour flight, it is perfectly acceptable: seats felt refurbished with new fabric and are very comfortable upright or reclined with plenty of legroom; service was excellent and the food surprisingly good (wine selection not the best, admittedly); and while the timing of the flights isn't the best, getting through immigration at Suvarnabhumi is a breeze that time of the day on either end of the journey, as is the traffic getting into/from the city.
I just can't imagine forcing myself to stay awake until a 2am departure, and then sit in a basic recliner seat for 4 hours, followed by a 4 hour layover before getting to the long-haul where I can really sleep. I'd be a wreck! I think this is similar to the ex-India flight timings through the ME3 carriers (prob with shorter layovers though), no thanks!
