Luckily, my Avios ticket was in F, so the agent checked the bags all the way to HKG.
On the return flight from NRT to LHR (also F) I forgot to ask the agent to check the bags to Copenhagen, but the kind agent said she could see I was traveling onwards to Copenhagen (despite it being separate tickets) and asked whether I wanted to check the bags all the way to Copenhagen.
Seems like it might be allowed if traveling F.
In November I was in paid F, but when I asked to check all the way through to ZRH (on a separate Y flight) I was refused. I suppose I could try 'I hear you do it for F passengers though'. It wasn't a big deal, as I had a rather long connection time.
