For Virtuoso hotels, or any hotels you're booking cancelable rates at, it doesn't hurt to book in advance. You can always rebook at a lower rate if/when price drops.

The only downside is if there requires a deposit, and then you have to weigh the time value of the deposit money against potential price drops. But let me not be a pedantic finance guy.
