I had two stays here the first two weeks after the hotel opened in early December. Apparently I was the first guest to stay in my room. Overall, it's a fine option for 1-2 people for a few nights if the price is right. I'd definitely stay at the Hyatt Centric if similar price point, especially with the chance for nice suite upgrades.
The location is several blocks west from Times Square in a quieter area with a few hotels and apartment buildings.
The rooms are quite small, but an efficient use of space. My first room was a corner so it was quieter (far from the elevator) but bizarrely didn't have desk. Instead, there was a small 1-2 person couch with a moveable desk (like what you would use to eat on at the couch). My second room did have a desk, but was right across from one of the four elevators. I slept with the air on so I didn't really hear the elevator chime or much noise. The air unit in the room was incredibly loud (both rooms I tried). The bathroom is small but usable. The wardrobe is small and can only hold a few shirts. There wasn't really anywhere to store my rollerboard except on the ground, which I try to avoid. Overall, the rooms are fine for one person and doable for two people if you don't have much stuff for 2-3 days.
The gym was disappointingly small for such a large hotel. There were 2-3 treadmills, 2 bikes, an elliptical or two and some weights. There's space to add a few more machines.
I didn't try breakfast in the morning, only the free coffee.
Service was very friendly and surprisingly didn't have any new hotel kinks.
