Check again. As a previous poster stated, UA recently decided to return F service to mid-90's standards. This included the return of ice cream, real linens, hot towels, food serivce on all flights over 2.5 hours, and a new attention to detail.
I just flew UA from ORD-SEA on a lunch flight (4 hour flight), and we were served a choice between a cold deli sandwich and a chinese chicken salad. There was a cookie for dessert. It was fine, but certainly nothing fancy.
