The OP didn't say (or I did not see it among the many threads) but was the rate cheaper for the booking than Marriott.com or a HTA (Human)?

I just finished 15 days in Las Vegas booked through a human travel agent and got points including 6,000 bonus points. I doubt the rate was much lower or higher, but it's more convenient to use the TA.

If I owned the company and the rate was 20% lower with this arrangement I'd say well, tough darts to people wanting points and nights. If it was $0.02 then it's just being cheap. If it's more then it's senseless. Unless there is fabulous reconciliation and auditing as part of it.

I think airlines do the same thing with paltry points for negotiated fares. I'm retired but my daughter travels a lot and earns almost nothing. Even on last minute fares.
