CPU: A broken experience at UA. They say they're aware of it

I just SDC'd my flights for tomorrow and after the ticket was updated I checked in using the mobile app. Curious about my CPU position I checked flight status to find that I wasn't on the upgrade list for either flight tomorrow.

I'm now on my third call to United to fix this. The first agent told me CPU must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. Wrong. Second agent had no clue and basically hung up on me. Third agent told me it's a known issue that they are working on. After repeatedly asking how others are on the list and I'm not she had no answer other than. "We're aware of it." Then she tells me she sees PlusPoints on my reservation -- which are for the return, not the outbound. I've now been listening to on hold music for 20 minutes.

I've already read three other reports today about people not appearing on the CPU list. Some were able to get it fixed and some not. I'm only pushing this because the connecting flight will run a CPU sweep shortly and there are 7 open seats so quite a few people will be upgraded (probably 4 or 5). As a 1K I should be near the top of the list but if I'm not even on the list I'll get skipped.

Edit: the phone agent had to speak to two supervisors. Second supervisor submitted a ticket (no idea to whom). My reservation now shows the CPU is requested. I was told I'm #3 on the first flight and #1 on the second flight. However, the app shows me as #9 for the first flight and #2 for the second flight. #9 of 17 as a 1K is possibly but highly unlikely. Chalk that up to just display issues?

My gut tells me changes are coming to CPU. UA wouldn't be tinkering with this code if they weren't testing changes down the line. Basically most of the IT failures we have seen UA make over the past year or so have all been results of them testing code for MileagePlus changes (e.g. P class earnings reduction).
