We arrived at LAX the evening of 12/31, getting to the Terminal 2 LAXit green sign about 7:00 pm. I can report:
1) There was somebody there directing people, and recommending that people walk to LAXit rather than waiting up to 20 minutes for a shuttle. Due to mobility issues with one of our party, we elected to wait rather than walk.
2) Shuttle arrived in about 10-15 minutes.
3) The shuttles appear to be any old surplus shuttles that could be scrounged up and not particularly well suited for people with luggage.
4) The Terminal 1 & 2 shuttle goes all the way around the LAX "horseshoe" to get to the LAXit lot. With the terminal-side lanes reserved for shuttles, the trip around the airport wasn't nearly as long as it previously would have been, but still takes a while.
5) At the end of horseshoe, somebody is directing traffic to hold up other traffic to allow the shuttles to cross all the way across multiple lanes to jump over to the LAXit side of the airport. It wasn't extremely busy when we went through, but when it is, traffic will be messed up.
6) The shuttle follows a very convoluted route to cross from the T7 area to the T1 area and to get into the LAXit lot. This adds several minutes to the trip.
7) Once dropped off, there were lots of people and signage directing passengers to the proper pickup area (we were taking Uber).
8) At the time we arrived, the Uber line wasn't long to moved pretty quickly. The Uber PIN number system works pretty well - I got the number as we left the terminal.
