I have booked a flight from Auckland to Tokyo on Air NZ. I don't have many things to take, so I was planning to take only one of those small suitcases that have been designed for carry on. I also want to carry a backpack with me. Was wondering if the backpack (won't have many things, only a jacket, water bottle, tissues etc) would not be allowed as it could count as a second piece of carry on? I won't exceed the 7kg limit combined anyway - it's a short trip so don't have much to pack. Checking in a suitcase (although included in the fare) seems to be too much work for me - if I only take carry on I can walk straight off the plane and not need to wait for my luggage.
