No need to wait at all. You have the option to refund or not refund the credit card portion within 24 hours. I wait about 5 seconds when I am combining travel funds.

People here would recommend one booking per passenger per direction (i.e. one-way rather than round trip bookings). For one thing, you won't lose the return value if you no-show the outbound for any reason.
