Whilst children under 2 are fully exempt from APD older children are only exempt in economy.

So one is 5 and the other is 4 days. So I guess it makes little difference in reality booking the 5 year old along side me with the companion ticket as opposed to my wife. At least that way she gets some half decent tier points with a seperate cash booking.
