About ten years ago, I was traveling around Japan with my boss, and we were scheduled for an afternoon flight from Haneda to Hiroshima. We arrived at the airport about two hours ahead of the flight with just carry-ons. As we checked in at the JAL counter, the agent informed us that there was a flight leaving in ten minutes, and were we interested in taking that one instead? We looked at each other in total disbelief. We wouldn't have even remotely considered asking about that if we had noticed the flight posted! Sure enough, a JAL person escorted us immediately through an adjacent, very efficient security position to the gate, and onto the plane just as they closed the door. We were not VIPs or even members in JAL's FFP, just AA's. I still can't believe we made that flight.
