We only booked the trip a few weeks ago, and know that it's a popular flight, so expecting nothing!
For avios upgrades you can just do dummy reward bookings for your flight for the cabin you want to upgrade to in order to check availability. If it appears call to do the UuA.

For cash upgrades if you are not showing a promotional upgrade on MMB it would just be the change fee & fare difference which as noted is likely to be pricey.
