I think that you have your answer. You list your location as Boston. I would head over to BOS and deal with this the old-fashioned way at the ticket counter. Dial in as well and, if by some chance you get a live human being before you reach the ticket counter, deal with it that way.
Alternatively, have your daughter show up early for that nonstop with seat availability and simply ask for that seat.
Dealing with it at the airport is not really a viable solution anymore. Until the Amadeus roll out is complete and all stations have access to both Amadeus Res and Amadeus DCS (if that's what it's being called) most airports are unable to deal with anything beyond day of changes.
