Personal Platinum

Personal Platinum card. Had it for maybe six or seven years, never tried for a retention offer (not sure why since I do for other cards, I think I just forgot). Last year's spending was only about $2k on this card, but maybe $20-30k across all AmEx cards. Called just before the end of the year. Mentioned my disappointment with no more restaurant credit through Priority Pass. Agent offered what seems to be one of the common ones: 30k MR or $300 credit points after spending $4k within three months. Wasn't sure which to take, agent said points could be a much better value, especially if transferred to an airline or hotel program and redeemed there, so I took the points.

With the inability to get reimbursed for AA gift cards, the elimination of the restaurant credit, discontinuance of Centurion lounge access on arrival, etc., the card has greatly reduced benefit. Agent tried to talk up the card, saying new lounges were opening up all over, etc. I only fly AA or OneWorld airlines, and never pay any airline fees nor order anything in an Admiral's Club nor onboard, so no opportunity for to use the fee credit aside from stupid AA Mileage Multiplier.
