Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa is launching a self-service check-in for its hotel guests -- not on the hotel campus but at Honolulu International Airport.
Travelers arriving at the airport can check in and even get their room keys at the airport, before they head to baggage claim, following the 4 p.m. Wednesday launch.
Hilton Hawaiian Village will be the first hotel in the nation to offer this service.
Dieter Huckestein, president of hotel operations, Hilton Hotels Corp., flew to Honolulu for the Wednesday launch, which was also to feature Peter Schall, Hilton's senior vice president of Hawaii region; John Monahan, president and CEO of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau; Rex Johnson, president and CEO of the Hawaii Tourism Authority; Les Enderton, executive director, Oahu Visitors Bureau; and Rodney Haraga, director of the state Department of Transportation.
