Tonight's my final night of what's been an enjoyable stay. For those who've never been to Harrogate, it's a pleasant little town with plenty of excellent restaurants. Betty's tea room is a must. There's enough in the town to warrant a two night stay, but for our five nights here we had a couple of days out - one to the Yorkshire Dales and another day out at Fountains Abbey which is a beautiful place for a walk.
A couple of tips and observations about the hotel...
They are generous with the bottled water.. 4 bottles given on check in and two replenished every day and staff offered us more on several occasions.. Incidentally the bottled water comes from a spring just half a mile from the hotel.
If you're on level 5 only the lift nearest reception goes to that level. The lifts are slow, patience is required.
If the car park is full (there's 150 spaces for 180 rooms) just drive round to the garden side and park on the path, they don't mind and many people do this.
The restaurants don't open on very quiet nights, this means there's no room service if this is the case also. A sign in reception informs of this, and we were told of this on check in that for two of our five nights this was the case. It was nice to try nearby restaurants though.
Disappointingly the refurb didn't extend to new windows, which are old aluminium framed ones. They aren't completely airtight and a bit of a draught could be heard blowing on a windy night.
Overall though with the excellent service, lovely bar and restaurant, nice spa area I enjoyed this stay, especially considering the value of money for the stay at only 12k points per night I doubt this could be beaten. I would return here.
