Oh, please don't misunderstand, my post wasn't directed towards or as a result of my exchange with you. It's a reflection of my own situation where in the last 12 - 16 months between my personal and business accounts I've generated about 8 (can't even recall exactly) SUBs between Citi and Barclays. This is in addition to pillaging and arbitraging others along the way; so, it wasn't as if I had been picking on Citi/AA.
Likewise, I did use mailers but they were all addressed to and mailed directly to either my personal or business addresses. I paid the fee on one of them, not because of any goodwill towards Citi, but for the sole purpose of the 10% on 100K annual redemptions. I have no qualms with how anyone acquires miles and fervently believe that in this game of ours, it's all fair in love and war for both sides. I have no grudge on however AA may act nor would I be surprised at being under review, though it's only an assumption since, thus far, my accounts are fine, can redeem miles, and was gifted EXP too.
While I can only speak for myself, I knew full well and my intentions were to engage in perk abuse. Why would I buy something when they're giving it away for free and subsidize it for others? As I've said many times, nothing I hate more in life than being a chump. Don't care what I can or can't afford, you want me to pay top dollar? Don't give it away for free period. I was honest. My businesses are completely legitimate with thick credit business profiles that have existed continuously for the past 10+ years. Only thing they may claim is that some mailed to one my businesses were meant for one of my partners (real person who engaged in similar harvesting), but I'd counter that because I am legally responsible for all of their debts with creditors as they are with mine, I may and have claimed estoppel ownership of the invitations in question.
As an abundance of caution, as a newly minted EXP, I refunded some mileage redemptions and replaced them with revenue flights as a hedge, a couple with my newly acquired SWUs. I both understand and appreciate there are many who may disapprove or find my actions unethical or wrong, which is par for the course. It's not personal with me, and I can appreciate that it isn't with AA either. If, as they say, the hammer falls, I'll evaluate all of my options and move on with the course that's best for me absent of emotion, as I always have with any endeavor in life.
Until then, as in life, I continue to do the best I can under whatever rules they give me to take care of my family and my friends. And, I don't see why luxury travel should be any exception.
