Not sure how I feel about the shoulder belt. Seems obvious it would offer more restraint on an emergency, but potentially at the cost of comfort and convince in normal usage.
The shoulder belts typically remove the need for the airbag, and are only required for take off and landing. Net positive I think.
Apparently this seat was modified to accommodate 4 abreast on the A330. I’ve heard there is also a modified tray table design, but not sure of those details.
