Do you have a cite for (a) it's melted to a level of damage that (b) it will be closed for months? I think right now we just need to deal in facts not hyperbole. Given it's a main road even if (a) has happened it's highly unlikely that (b) will happen.
You don't need to rebuild a road if the asphalt melts; they'd be rebuilding the Stuart Highway every year if that was the case.
