But FWIW - it is actually a security feature that each airline imposes to protect passengers. Your only recourse is to ask your ex-girlfriend for the cash equivalent back.

But if the amount is small enough to tolerate, I believe you should simply move on instead.

Maybe a lesson for you - don't buy any tickets for others, regardless of relationships.
