I have done this before but not on purpose. Delayed flight. I called and was going to get there early in the day so I just went straight to the hotel. No issues but it was a not something I planned for and I did end up paying for a full night that I wasn't there.... though I did arrive well before check in for the next day and my company paid. If you are arriving in the morning, I think you may have a better chance.
