Yes, the automated gates only work on your first entry. If you want to re-enter, you have to ask an attendant. They seem to be aware of this ("oh, you've already been to the other lounge, right?")

Today I had no problem re-entering the Business lounge repeatedly with the same BP. The M&S lounge on the other hand required attendant attention. (I was moving around just to break down the hours of boredom).
