Stayed here the last week of December 2019. Overall, we had positive impressions and would stay here again—with one caveat.

The property is very stylish. They definitely put a lot of effort into renovating the old office or post office building and the overall effect is unique.

Didn't get an upgrade as a diamond from standard king room because front desk informed us that the suites were all out of service due to some unspecified maintenance issue. Our king room was nicely sized and we were struck by the little vestibule between the door and the bedroom, which helped to isolate noise from the atrium. Rooms have a desk in the vestibule. Bathrooms are oversized with a huge walk-in shower, no tub. Decorations are sparse and floors are 100% tile but it works with the overall style of the property. We found the bed very comfortable and the linens high quality.

The number one downside of our room was that the only window was a tall and very narrow opening onto the building's daylight shaft which overlooks nothing but a brick wall. It made the room feel a little like a bunker. For me, I would not stay here again without ensuring I had a room with a real window.

The rooftop bar is enormous and the view is nice. As diamonds we received vouchers for free tequila. The cocktails were good but have American hotel prices. The breakfast restaurant is on the roof as well. Our breakfast benefit included free buffet which had a good mix of American and Mexican cuisine, and a cooked to order egg/omelette bar. A-la-carte ordering is available but not included with free breakfast.

Service generally was good. Front desk accidentally tried to check us into someone else's reservation but it was all sorted out. Bell staff are on it and there's a little spiel they give about the design of the hotel which is somewhat charming. I was a Mexico City newcomer but the location seemed good to me; very close to the Zocalo and right in the center of the hustle and bustle if that's your sort of thing. Touristy area perhaps with an enormous amount of foot traffic.
