No...you can avail yourself of benefits whilst you have them, but not afterwards. So if they were OWS (silver), they could choose seats, which may or may not "stick" after status lapses, and no changes can be made after lapse. So in this case, I would be surprised if the lapsed status would allow seat selection. Having said that, I've never been bronze...
