I never saw the old offering, but it sounds different. These units (
http://www.digeplayer.com/digeplayer_main.php) are battery powered, and have a decently sized 16:9 aspect ratio screen. I still prefer to use my laptop, but that's just me. Everyone on the flight seemed to really enjoy them, other than trying to figure out where to put them during meal service.
I personally haven't really noticed a huge difference in the B/E offering on the 763 v. the 777. I'm flying LGW-ATL next week on the 777 they just swapped into that route, so I'll try and be more observant!
