After explaining my situation, the call center person began with, “You’re not going to like my answer.” He then gave the same information about the six- to eight-month wait, and there was nothing he could do. So I thanked him for his time and concluded, “You’re not going to like my answer. I will be contacting my Congressman's office to ask the constituent services folks to escalate it.”
