Excuse the potentially stupid question, but is it fairly obvious how to avoid getting boarding passes during OLCI?

Guessing a web browser is safer as they can't assume you'll have a printer.

ETA: if I can't select seats I like, is there any advantage to doing OLCI at all, or should I just cancel out?
