Do online check in as early as you can and keep an eye our for online upgrade offers in MMB and while you're doing check in.
Aside from that, there's not much else you can do. Not having status doesn't necessarily mean you're out of the running for an OpUp (if they actually need to do some), but work under the assumption that you'll be staying put in WTP.
