Relieved and grateful but mildly confused

This year has been a mix of mad busy, and personal ups & downs. As a result, I was a long way off retaining Silver (c180 tps short) and had no time to consider a cheeky points run. In short, resigned to Bronze, for the first time in years.

In today's post, I got my Silver card for next year. Cue celebration, relief, etc, but curious why. It doesn't matter, just nothing better to ponder about this morning!

I have a pet theory but don't know if it holds water. We had two flights in space in the space of 6 weeks where we had a longish delay (5 hrs) and where the flight was cancelled altogether (both using Avios, and with hotels too). I usually then have several long haul trips in the months after the summer holidays which usually get me to Silver, but this year, the events were both in London.

I'm wondering whether they think I didn't fly because of my experience and are trying to tempt me back...?
