Happy to hear you were treated to an upgrade in Zakopane and enjoyed it. You will therefore probably like the
MGallery Bachleda Luxury Hotel in Kraków run by the same owners (yes, they full name includes "luxury", printed on everything they could in the hotel), it's certainly more expensive and there is little difference between standard rooms and "junior suites", but it sure is a poster for boutique hotels. I recently commented to my partner that this is a place where work is easily and pleasantly done. Plus you can hardly run out of options to liven up your days in Kraków, not to mention a number of inspiring / interesting places within 1-2 hours' drive / train ride / flight.
Other higher-end Accor properties in Europe I can recommend:
- Pullman Eindhoven - a great place to focus on the work that needs to be done, as it is not quite a bustling destination, yet if you need bustle or just a change of scene, so close to a lot of places worth visiting. Plus a sizeable wellness area and reasonably-sized desks with comfy office chairs in rooms; Also hard to get bored with breakfast options.
- Pullman Liverpool - can be a steal in "low season" (when no major events happen in Liverpool, especially at the neighbouring arena), very nice rooms to lounge and work in, sadly the executive lounge was closed but otherwise a paragon for other Accor hotels
- Pullman Paris Montparnasse - reopening 2020 to be even more stylish in a city where inspiration waits on every corner - and you can see almost every corner of Paris from the upper floors
- Mercure Raphael Wien - I pretty much always get upgraded to a top-floor room (or is it a junior suite?) with a terrace, where I could basically live - all of the rooms in question are almost as big as my apartment, have a terrace to lounge, enjoy drinks or meals and work on, big desks with quality office chairs, ample electric outlets and pretty much all of the comforts I'd ever need in a hotel room. Location is a perfect blend between logistical convenience and out of touristy areas (yet within walking distance if you need them). And all of this at usually one of the lowest rates in Vienna among non-Ibises. I hope the management will continue not to realize how they outrank their league and underprice their rooms.
- Mercure Gdynia - if you like EUR 50 rates, head there off-season (i.e. winter) and you stand a good chance of bagging a suite for entry-level prices (meaning two large work desks for both of you, superb view and his / hers bathrooms. This is my base for the TriCity and everything in the north of Poland, and its breakfast spread (and bright and comfy breakfast room) is reason enough for me to make it home base whenever I can. The full-size swimming pool should convince the fitness lover in you. Oh, and of course Gdynia is rife with cafes, bakeries and all kinds of places to go to to do work or just indulge yourself plus a lot of forward-thinking, creative people to connect with.
Also - congratulations on making your blog a success that pays for such treats. And on landing a Polish girlfriend
