Upgrades are usually done based on status with Eurobonus. Especially if Go is overbooked an upgrade to Plus or even business is likely if you hold status. It happened to me several times, e.g. the day after a canceled flight from Hong Kong or in the holiday periods from Copenhagen to Beijing or Shanghai. I even experienced a complimentary upgrade from Go to Business once.
A Pandion acquaintance of mine seems to get a lot of complimentary upgrades to business on SK’s CPH-Asia routes, including even on flights that are nowhere close to full in Plus or Go. I don’t know what proportion of those complimentary upgrades are double cabin upgrades, but some of them have been.
SK’s US-CPH routes seem to be tighter about upgrading Pandions and (non-P) EBDs than SK is on CPH-Asia routes.
