For something different, Tottori Sand Dunes are a 15 minutes taxi ride from Tottori-Conan Airport. Nearby and open Spring to Autumn is the Sand Museum which is actually much more interesting than it sounds; sculptors come from around the world to create vast sand sculptures based upon a central theme which changes annually.

The flight is not much more than an hour from Haneda.
